Be one of the first to explore the remote Western Bays of Lake Taupo on a classical sailing boat.
This intimate day cruise with a maximum of 8 passengers offers you a place to relax and clear your thoughts, away from the buzz of normal life. Sit back, relax and enjoy the spacious deck and superior comfort of our boat Kindred Spirit or find the adventurer in you, discovering unique views of places just accessible by boat.
For the full day tour you will join us on Kindred Spirit right from Taupo Boat Harbor, enjoying the tranquility of the early hours to go out to the Western Bays for a full day on the water. On the way out we will stop by the Maori Rock Carvings and serve you a hot drink. It will take us about 3 hours to reach the Western Bays.
Depending on the weather we will find the best course in the Western Bays, choosing from different highlights like Kawakawa Bay, Waihora Bay with the Otupoto Falls, Te Papa Bay with its crystal clear waters and Te Awaroa Bay, Rangiora Point in Whanganui Bay, the hidden Cherry Bay and the breathtaking Karangahape Cliffs, creating an exclusive trip for you. While cruising along you can enjoy a refreshing drink and a lunch snack.
After about 2 hours we will set sails, making the most of the lake breeze to find our way home. You can give the crew a hand or just snuggle into a beanbag to relax the next 3 hours while meandering through the water, listening to some music and the swish of the water on the hull. Going back to Taupo Boat Harbor you can enjoy an afternoon cup of tea, coffee or milo along with some biscuits.
Around 5.30pm – 6pm you will arrive in Taupo Marina to end your sailing adventure.
Join us on a sustainable sailing tour to the hidden wonders of the Western Bays for an unforgettable experience.
